Aladdin Australian Pedestal Lamp in Used Original Finish

This example of a circa 1949, tall "Family Lamp", was meant to be used at the dining room table. With a fluted column, brass font and steel base, the original burner used is an American Chicago side-draft Model B in excellent working condition. Most of these lamps are found stripped of their original red-brown paint finish. Due to wear and time, however, its become difficult to find a good example of what the lamp looked like with its original paint. For accuracy, this lamp is missing spots of paint on both font and base, but it has no dents or dings.

One of the features of this lamp is it retains the rare green Sydney factory sticker pictured in the set of photos. This proves where the lamp was made. Aladdin changed over to Bakelite, so 1949 was the last year these wood stem lamps were produced.

The choice of a Model B burner over the more standard'Super Aladdin' burner of the day was a common choice.
