Vintage Aladdin Green Cathedral #108 Model B Nu-Type Kerosene Mantle Lamp Circa 1934 Manufactured by Mantle Lamp Company in Chicago Illinois. Genuine Aladdin clear green Cathedral base with original parts (see list of new replacement parts below) in excellent condition. Lamp measures 24-incles tall base to chimney top. The lighting unit is the famous Nu-Type Model B instant-light burner in a nickel finish with "Lox-On" mantle and original chimney which is mark "Aladdin" in frosted white.

All parts are original except new genuine Aladdin replacement parts as follows. A-B-C Wick Mantle Lamp Co. Initially the Model A burner was intended to be the American side draft burner and the model B was intended to be the side draft burner for the UK. Model B lamps were introduced in the UK in 1932. Americans found the model A burner difficult to re-wick and acceptance of the new burner was poor.

So for the 1933 year the model B tooling came back to the US and the US model B lamps were born. The model A tooling went to the UK and the Model 14 "Super Aladdin" lamp was born. The model B burner was used on a large variety of lamps between 1933 and 1955.

Model B burners, like its predecessors were manufactured by Plume & Atwood in their plant in Connecticut. They were marked Chicago because that is where the Aladdin headquarters was located.
