This is an authentic 1890's antique Naugatuck brass lamp, fully complete including the wick, and topped off with a beautiful and perfect Aladdin glass chimney. The chimney is clear glass, and what you might see on the glass is simply humidity like we get in Alabama this time of year. The flame spreader works, though it can be a little persnickety at times -- I did not oil it -- but it does raise and lower even if you might have to jiggle the spreader top a bit to make it move through some of its range.
The oil reservoir cap removes and closes easily, just as it should. This is a rare complete Naugatuck lamp! One photo shows the wick that fits underneath the flame spreader. Without the Aladdin chimney it stands about 12" tall, and the base is about 6 1/4" in diameter. The Aladdin chimeny is 12 1/2" tall, and when it is in place the lamp with chimney is 23" tall.
The Naugatuck brand badge is shown in the photo of the flame spreader. In addition to Naugatuck, it says Sept 9 90 (as in 1890) and April 11 93 (as in 1893) as patent dates. Overall, the brass is in great condition, especially for its age. It has not been polished as I wanted to leave the original patina on it.
It has a tiny dent in it in one spot just above the base.
