The Colonial Aladdin lamps have a hobnail design which runs through the glass of the oil reservoir (fount). For this reason they are often referred to as "Hobnail" lamps rather than by their rightful Colonial name. The bowl and foot of these lamps were fused together when the glass was hot and this joint is the weak spot of the lamp.
Temperature changes caused by such things as cleaning them in hot water, or bringing the lamp inside from the cold to a warm house, can cause the joint to crack. Care must be taken with the Aladdin Colonial lamps not to bump or stress the joint in any manor. This is the reason Colonial. Aladdin lamps are quite rare and hard to find. The lamp base is 12 1/2 tall to the top of the burner. The burner is Nu-Type, Model B, nickel plated. The base is original, not a reproduction. The base comes without a wick. The lamp is in excellent condition.
