1950s Aladdin Caboose Lamp, Kerosene Lamp. This is an amazing find, an Aladdin Model C Railroad Caboose Lantern made by Aladdin Industries of Nashville Tenn.
This is a special lamp designed for a moving train, the hanging mechanism is spring controlled it moves side to side and up and down as the train rolls on down the tracks, the two wing nuts at the bottom of the hanging mechanism are to adjust the tension of the springs. It uses a burning mantel and a large wick system, instead of your normal flat wick on home kerosene lamps. The combination of the mantle and wick produces a much brighter light that would be equivalent to 6 or 7 normal kerosene lamps. This lamp is in amazing condition, extremely clean and complete with glass chimney, and fabric shade, the lamp still had fuel in it which was disposed of the large wick is intact the mantal as will need replaced (these do not last long once used) (the mantal are still available for these lamps).
The chimney on this lamp locks in place, so not to bounce off, the lamp shade is design with copper wire stand-off to keep away from chimney. If you know a Railroad Collector this is a must have!
Overall condition is wonderful as shown. Measures, 19" tall, 11ΒΌ" diameter on shade, protrudes off the wall 14. Condition, wonderful shade is slightly yellowed from age, it is 70-years old and used. Please see all pictures as they are part of the description.
