Vintage Aladdin UK Model 12 Kerosene Oil Lamp with Frosted Green Eagle Glass Shade

This Aladdin oil lamp was found at a recent Lancaster County (PA) estate sale so nothing is known of its past. The lamp stands about 22 3/4 to the top of the chimney. It appears that the chimney is not original as it has no "Aladdin" hallmark anywhere on its surface.

The base of the lamp is made of brass. It is about 11 7/8" high to the top of the burner and has a base that is 6 1/8" in diameter. The brass at one time nickel plated, but almost all of the plating has been polished away.

It has been well cared for but does have one small ding along the edge of the base that we have shown in the photos. The information found on the burner knob plate identifies the burner as an Aladdin Model 12.

Furthermore, the plate also indicates that this lamp was produced in London. Through research, we have found that knob plates of this type were used on lamps produced from 1930 to 1939. The green glass shade is in the embossed eagle pattern.

What makes this shade unusual is that the surfaces are acid etched or frosted. Most shades produced in this pattern were not etched. This shade does have one small flake or chip to the fitter and is shown in the photos.
